What, who, how now?

A day in the

Memoir of Bliem Kern

Number  92

In a letter dated February 1, 1979 from Visakhapatnam, India, my late Hindu Master Spiritual Astrologer, Kulapathi E. Krishnamacharya wrote to me that “one day you will find yourself following the path of the Tathagata, that is your way”. Not until seventeen years later would that forecast come true. Through my lovely Cuban friend Marlene, I was introduced to the Heart Jewel Practice in the clearly well written works of the accomplished Tibetan meditation master Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Marlene originally came to me for an astrology reading and later told me about this Danish man living in Brooklyn named Morten, who was teaching Tibetan meditation. I thought to myself, weird was she crazy?  But then after reading the book she gave me titled Heart Jewel, I, being curious, went to Kadam Morten’s workshop on Transforming Anger in Brooklyn in September 1996. To my own astonishment I have come to find it is my fortunate karma to continue sitting across from Kadam Morten on a regular weekly basis ever since. I have been studying in a venerable lineage and learning incredible, skillful, mindful, profound teachings and practices passed on by word of mouth beginning in the 14th century with Tibetan Master Je Tsongkhapa founder of the Gelukpas (yellow hats) and an exponent of Kadampa Buddhism founded before him and  brought to Tibet by the great Indian master Atisha. I  am practicing the unmistaken Buddha Dharma of ancient Tibet: Lamrin (stages of the path), Lojong (mind training) and Vajrayana Mahamudra (containing the practices of generation and completion stages of Secret Mantra). I will, no doubt, never be the same again. Actually thinking about it, when have I ever been the same again? ...
